How To Help A
 Sprained Ankle Heal

Over the past few weeks we have talked about kids, summer sports camps and how to manage those inevitable injuries.

And if you haven’t seen those posts yet, you can scroll down and check them out right here. You may find them to be helpful.

Today I am going to share a case history with you; this happened about a month ago.

A 10 yr old patient of mine sprained their ankle during baseball camp.

But within 10 days, they were right back at it playing baseball again.

So how did they heal so quickly?

First of all, they applied ice to the ankle, rested it for a few days and also had a few chiropractic adjustments.

You may be wondering …”can you adjust an ankle?”

Well, the answer to that question is ….”Absolutely! Yes you can.”

When you roll an ankle there are 2 little bones ( the talus and navicular) that frequently become misaligned.

And if they are not re-positioned, the ankle will be prone to rolling (spraining) over and over which will cause permanent damage to the ankle ligaments.

I also adjusted their lower back. Why would I do this?

Because the nerves from the lower back (sciatic nerve) control the leg all the way down to the foot.

So I adjusted the lower back to stimulate those nerves to expedite the healing process.

And there you have it!

If your kids do sprain an ankle, keep me in mind. I can help.

I am only a phone call away.
