This is not whether it is good for you to eat red meat or not.
It is about the kind of red meat that you are eating.
If you do eat red meat & you feed your children red meat, it is very, very important that you read this!
The problem is most studies on red meat do not differentiate between commercial beef & pasture-raised meat.
Commercial beef is not only different by nature, it may very well be giving you health problems.
It has the wrong kind of fat that is unhealthy for your heart.
But contrary to what you hear, it is not because it is red meat.
Some red meat in fact, can be very healthy.
Cattle, in one form or another have been on this planet for millions of years.
They have successfully survived by grazing on grasslands & prairies.
Cattle’s natural diet consists of grasses & legumes.
Most cattle no longer eat their natural diet.
Growers feed them cheap grain & other ‘feedstuff’ in order to fatten them up quickly to sell for profit.
Most growers are not really concerned about your health.
They are mostly concerned about generating profits.
But what are some of these ‘feedstuffs’?
Please pay attention here….right now it is chocolate bars, rainbow sprinkles, gummy worms & stale cookies!! Corn prices are so high that ranchers are adding these processed sugary junk foods to the cow’s diet as we speak.
Not to mention that corn fed beef is not that much better for you.
The growers try to explain this away by saying that a cow’s stomach is able to break down these large sugar molecules providing most of the energy they require for milk production.
But just because they can feed this stuff to cows does not mean that they should.
Why? …. because a direct injection of sugar into the bloodstream of a cow is causing cows to suffer from the same chronic diseases humans do when they eat this way.
It is no wonder red meat has been linked to certain chronic health concerns.
How could any cow that is raised in such a way remain healthy & produce healthy beef?
Nearly impossible!
It causes the cows to become fatty instead of lean. Toxins, hormones & antibiotics then accumulate in the fat.
These then get passed on to you & your children when you eat commercial beef.
This is simply not good for you or your health.
The bottom line is factory-farm red meat is simply horrible stuff.
And you have every right to be scared to death of it.
However, pasture-raised, grass-fed beef could not be any more different.
You have nothing to fear when you make it a part of your diet.
And neither should your precious children.
In fact, this type of beef is loaded with health benefits:
• Grass-fed products have 3 – 5 times more conjugated linoleic acid ( CLA ) than commercial animals. CLA is an important nutrient that has cancer preventing properties.
• Grass-fed beef has 4 times more vitamin E. Grain-fed cows have so little vitamin E ( one of the most powerful antioxidants for humans ), that researchers at Colorado State University recommended supplementing the cows!!
• One study revealed that a grass-based diet for cows help them produce more vitamin A and E, as well as cancer fighting anti-oxidants such as glutathione and superoxide dismutase ( SOD ) compared to grain-fed cows.
And don’t be fooled by the label ‘organic’.
This means that the cattle do not have detectable levels of antibiotics or hormones in their body at the time of slaughter.
And most organic cattle eat nutritionally deficient grains.
Grass-fed meat is a deep red to maroon color, not pink like the commercial beef.
And it is very lean and richer in flavor.
