To be truthfully honest, this is the most important word that you should be crystal clear about its definition because of the significant impact they (subluxations) have on your health.
When you are in most chiropractic offices, you will hear about subluxations, you will read about them in any chiropractic literature or research articles, and they are referred to in most patient education pamphlets/postures/videos.
So it is critical to know exactly what a subluxation is so you as a patient can make sense of all these things.

By definition, a subluxation is an ‘incomplete or a partial dislocation of a vertebra’.
And we all have them; children and adults alike. It is virtually impossible for all 24 of your spinal vertebrae to stay in their proper and correct anatomical position for your whole life.
Here is what scientific research tells us that subluxations do to your body and the negative impact they have on your health:
compress your nerve roots
compress your spinal cord
cause abnormal curves in your spine
stretch your spinal cord
impair nerve transmission
cause tight and tense muscles
impair internal organ function
cause pain and discomfort in your body
cause arthritis and degeneration in your spine
cause your nerves to go into hibernation mode or a coma-like state
Now, you do not have to be a health professional to figure that none of these are good for anyone’s health.
In our next post we will review what causes subluxations but in the mean time if you have any questions or concerns about your health or your family’s health, please call us at 905 335 LIFE (5433).
Remember that consultations are always free of charge and family appointments are also available. And the reason we recommend family appointments is because subluxations tend to run in families.
