Today we are going to talk about your posture and how much energy you have.
But the first thing you need to understand is something called your neuromuscularskeletal (nms) system.
This system is made up of your nerves, your muscles and your skeletal system which includes your spine.[flashvideo file=http://lifechiropractic.s3.amazonaws.com/12.14.2015.posture.and.energy.bi-1.m4v image=https://lifechiropracticcentre.ca/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/posture.and_.energy.jpg width=500 height=305 /]
This system is what is responsible for holding you upright against the ever present force of gravity.
Next there is something called Postural Fitness.
The definition of Postural Fitness is ‘efficient and sustainable function and structure of the neuromuscularskeletal system.’
There is also something called Postural Collapse.
Postural Collapse is the opposite of Postural Fitness and is defined as ‘weak and inefficient use of the nms system.’
So, here is what you need to know about all of this.
Scientific research tells that people with Postural Collapse utilize more oxygen and they also overload and fatigue certain postural muscles.
This leads to increased energy expenditure. Increased energy expenditure causes one to become lethargic but what is even worse it increases the amount of the stress hormone cortisol released into the body.
Cortisol is responsible for increased weight gain and obesity.
Next time I am going to show you exactly what part of the spine and what type of postural distortion pattern is responsible for all of this.
