Whether you have injured your back several times or this is the first time, this is what you need to know.
You need to get off of your feet immediately. Lie down on the floor & put both of your feet up on a chair.
Slide a flat, soft ice-pack across your lower back & leave it there for 15 minutes. Do this once an hour.
Never, ever put a hot pack on an injury!
If this position is not comfortable, lie on your side on the floor.
Whatever side is most comfortable.
Bring your knees up towards your chest a little bit and put a pillow between your knees.
Again, put an ice pack on once an hour for 15 min.
Once you are able to move around, you need to get to a chiropractor immediately.
Ignoring the problem or treating it with pain-killers, muscle relaxers or anti-inflammatory drugs is not going to do you any favors in the long run.
Most of the time, lower back pain is from a pinched nerve or an inflamed spinal joint. Pulled muscles rarely happen but muscles will get sore and stiff if there is an underlying pinched nerve and inflamed spinal joint.
And understand this.
You do not get lower back pain because you do not have enough pain-killers, muscle relaxers or anti-inflammatory drugs in your diet.
The underlying cause most of the time is due to NOT practicing good spinal hygiene habits.
Chiropractic adjustments will help to heal both your pinched nerves and your spinal joints.
The awesome thing is that not only can we help you feel better, but we can actually help make your back stronger and more durable.
Remember that your back will be your greatest asset or your greatest liability as you age.
It all depends on how you take care of it throughout your lifetime.
