Treating Fibromyalgia

“Here’s a Burlington Fibromyalgia Pain Relief Story”

A 40 yr old female made an appointment with me for a free initial consultation.

She was referred to me by her neighbor who thought I may be able to help her with her fibromyalgia.

You see, this lady had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia when she was 30 yrs old just after the birth of her second child. Initially she thought that something went wrong during the birth process because she was suffering from lower back pain that persisted after the birth of her child.

Her family doctor told her that this would eventually go away but it did not.

In fact, not only did it persist but it progressed. Her back pain became more severe & more frequent. This was starting to seriously affect her home life as she not only had a newborn to look after, but also a toddler which imposed definite physical demands on her.

Eventually her family doctor recommended she take medication for the symptomatic relief of the pain but thankfully she was wise enough to refuse because she was breast-feeding her newborn & she did not want to contaminate her breast milk with the drugs as this could have serious consequences for her newborn.

This is when her neighbor suggested she consult with a Burlington Chiropractor to see if there was anything I could do to help.

When I first met this patient she was pale, fatigued, weary looking, hunched over in obvious pain & shuffled around like she had a 20lb weight attached to each of her legs. She moved with great deliberation & was in obvious discomfort & extremely stressed because she could not attend to her family appropriately nor could she enjoy her family life with her children or her husband.

She was looking for answers & was desperate.

All she was told was that there was no known cure for fibromyalgia because there was no conclusive evidence as why one gets fibromyalgia. And the only solution offered up by her family doctor was medication & this was to make her more comfortable at best, but not a cure.

This does not surprise me because after 25 yrs of practice I have yet to see a disease that was the result of someone not taking enough medication. Her family doc did not even suggest she consult a nutritionist for some dietary & vitamin counseling which has shown to benefit some people.

This did not surprise me either because it is more the exception than the rule that a medical person would refer a patient to a natural health care provider. This would be like admitting that they are inferior & that just doesn’t stroke the inflated medical ego very well.
Anyway , this patient did fit in with the clinical presentation of fibro. An early middle- aged female, insidious onset ( which means no apparent reason ), fatigue, muscle stiffness and tenderness. I explained to her that what I do is by no means a cure but I have had excellent results with my fibro patients & have definitely improved the quality of their lives.

We proceeded with a thorough examination & health history, and we started treatment that very day as she was very anxious to begin.

Well, the rest is nothing short of a miracle.

Her second treatment with me was 2 days later & she had noticed a significant improvement already.

She said that the pain level hadn’t changed much but she felt much more flexible. Within about a months time her pain level had diminished by 50%, her flexibility was almost normal & her energy level was 30% better.

By the 6 month mark she was a fully functioning mother again & she said to me that she doubted that she ever had fibromyalgia at all. Well, she may have or she may not have. But the important thing is that what I did for her helped her body heal WITHOUT the use of medications. And she was so thankful & grateful that she was able to enjoy her motherhood & her marriage without any limitations.
Now as with anything, results can never be guaranteed as every individual is different but this particular patient responded extremely well to her chiropractic treatments and she was enjoying the quality of life that every person deserves.
